SPECIFICATION
EXTERIOR
Embark on a timeless adventure aboard SJOSTROM, a classic Gaff-rigged schooner that masterfully combines traditional sophistication with modern maritime reliability. Designed by renowned naval architect Bud McIntosh and crafted by Richmond Boatworks in the USA, SJOSTROM was initially launched in 2006 and underwent a comprehensive two-year refit, completed in 2020.
SJOSTROM is a testament to exceptional nautical craftsmanship, boasting a durable wood/GRP hull designed to withstand the rigors of the sea. Following a recent refit in 2021, guided by her current owner's vision, SJOSTROM's systems and equipment have been modernized while preserving her distinctive charm as a classic schooner.
Her hull was constructed by cold molding strips of Douglas fir, saturated with marine grade epoxy. These strips are laminated over a jig mold with the vessel inverted. Each new layer is placed at a 45 degree offset from the first. The total thickness of SJOSTROM’S hull is five inches.
